Learning Management System Brings New Technique to College Courseware

· No Comments · Uncategorized

Colleges nationwide have begun to implement a Learning Management System into their curriculum that has revolutionized how material is being delivered to their students. Specialty colleges have proven to be the trend setter as they break into online learning by creating degrees that are offered to students solely by e learning. High tech curriculum that includes interactive courses, group projects, and 3D modules offer and uphold the same quality and standard of teaching as onsite students learning in classrooms.

Internet Marketing Student, Jim Miller, speaks about his experience with Orlando based Full Sail University’s distant learning program, while currently located on the West Coast. Being a full time student and working full time can have its difficulties, and Jim Miller expresses that because of the flexibility and convenience of online classes, it has enabled him to pursue his degree and still maintain a full time job. “It’s great because class is wherever you are. The convenience and flexibility of when you attend your class enables you to work your education around your career which helps to facilitate both endeavors.”

The Learning Management System creates a structure in which students have access to help, through many different channels, to further explain material being taught in their courses. A 24/7 mentorship program with experienced trainers, offer extra support for those students who are having complications understanding what is being taught in their coursework. E learning programs offer many benefits to students, among which, they are exposed to many different styles of teaching and in turn  enables them to identify with which style they learn best with.

With every advantage there is always a disadvantage.Depending on the Professor or set curriculum, it may entail students to participate in group projects. As a result, group projects can cause difficulties with having to compensate for time differences, planning around work schedules, and picking up the responsibility of lesser motivated group members. To ensure the integrity of the program, evaluations are conducted quarterly to determine whether or not the curriculum layout is delivering the material effectively.

When asked how he felt the Learning Management System curriculum and teaching compared to “in classroom” material and teaching in regards to quality, Jim states, “The only difference that I have experienced is that you are not physically in the classroom. I feel the quality of the curriculum and the concepts I am being taught are held at the same standard and uphold the same quality at any other University attending an in-person course.”

Colleges, who may not have implemented the Learning Management System as a full fledge online learning program, have instilled certain components into their current coursework. Professors have started to catch on to the trend and have tried new techniques to mix up their material by hosting their classes in an “online learning” type manner via chat room or modules. People are acknowledging the ease in course delivery and are beginning to build up a fascination in how implementing a Learning Management System can provide a beneficial learning experience for their students.
